Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other service providers to negotiate rates, secure capacity, and ensure smooth execution of shipments. Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, understanding their business requirements and providing tailored solutions to meet their logistics needs. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs requirements, trade sanctions, and safety regulations, to minimize risk and ensure the legality of shipments. Monitor and control costs associated with ocean freight operations, identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimizing transportation routes and modes. Ensure service quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency, and take corrective actions as needed to address any issues or discrepancies. Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the supply chain, such as port disruptions, vessel delays, or cargo damage, and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks. Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting ocean freight transportation, and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or maritime shipping, with a focus on ocean freight procurement. Knowledge of international shipping regulations, IMCO terms etc. Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and vendors. Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement. Working languages: English. Chinese speaking would be an advantage.
