Job Responsibilities
Review, check, vet, comment and draft all legal related documents including without limitation contracts, agreements, customer terms and conditions, letters & correspondences and other related documents. Work with business units and management to negotiate on contractual terms and provide legal advice where required. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external third parties on all legal related documents as and when required. Provide legal advice, opinions and support to management and business units on legal issues including advising on legal risks, compliance with related laws, legal initiatives and strategies beneficial to the company’s interest. Draft legal opinions and provide to management and business units, and discuss with Group Legal when required. Provide legal advice and manage all litigation related matters for the company. Attend and advice on all Consumer Tribunal cases with the business units including prepare tribunal documents, attend tribunal cases and liaise with regulatory bodies. Participates and assist to create the development of company policies, procedures and programs and provides continuing legal counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters. Work with management and business units to advise on all issues and queries pertaining to company policies and guidelines including recommending changes and improvements as and when required. Ensure all statutory and risk requirements are adhered to. Drive, advise, consult and render value-added advisory and consultation services on regulatory compliance requirements as well as regulator’s expectations and/or concerns of the effectiveness of the company’s compliance practices to all relevant parties. Marketing & Advertising: Review and drafting of Marketing and Advertising materials including related advice on regulatory, data privacy and IP issues in Malay, Mandarin and English languages.
Job Requirements
Law degree or related with at least 8 years’ experience in legal and compliance with minimum 5 years in legal practice. At least 5 years’ experience in retail or commercial environment is preferred. Good understanding of retail and electronic commerce industries. In-depth knowledge of Malaysian commercial law, regulatory framework, contract law, competition law, corporate law, consume, intellectual property, etc. Strong knowledge and experience in dealing with strategic high level legal solutions & managing legal departments. Able to fully aligned to the Company’s strategic and priorities and are committed in supporting the achievement of the Company's goals. Ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines, good organization, prioritization, time management skills as well as excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal, business engagement, negotiation and client communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, experience in corporate transactions coupled with good corporate and commercial drafting fluency. Strong conceptual, strategic thinking and resourceful.
