Since arriving in China in 1997, I have practiced, refined and adapted my skills in business development and networking to meet the ever-changing Chinese market. Initially found gainful employment in China as an English teacher, then adapted this to service and suit HR development needs of key companies in Shenzhen. Quickly transitioned to business development and marketing. My approach to business development is targeted, organized, disciplined, researched, customer focused and persistent. At my core I'm self-driven proactive learner and doer, a collaborator and enthusiast for sustained development both personally and professionally. Am where I am today because of the proactive actions I have taken to acquire new skills, continuously develop, my abilities to build trust based business relationships that add value and inspire others to achieve. Completed document translations and preparation for EU anti-dumping commission audit at the Gongming factory site in 2005.
Developed a freelance HR consulting practice in Shenzhen. Designed and delivered staff development training focused on leadership skills enhancement and cross cultural management best practice. Secured and sustained long term client contracts of up to 4 years. Clients included Wal-mart China HQ / Huawei / China Telecom / INFINEON Technologies / KONKA. During this period multiple projects were undertaken and included workshops and seminars in leadership development, project management, sales and market development, broadening communication skills, effective meeting participation and presentation skills. Chose to go and work in factory setting to deepen understanding of manufacturing conditions in China.
Part Time position: Teaching English to High School Students and Adults in evening and weekend classes, IELTS Teacher, Immersion English Teacher – Special 8 week program conducted at Guanlan Campus. This immersion course was tailored specifically for adults and university graduates. Multiple intakes to this popular course, many times over 3 years.
