Guangzhou metro announced recently that it is planning to roll out 10 new services by the end of this year. But no matter you use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Android HCE, you have to connect with a bank card with UnoinPay. However, by the end of this year, you can use WeChat Pay or Alipay to buy tickets on the official APP of Guangzhou metro. The metro will install “smart gate” system in every metro station, to further enhance the cashless payments.

Now these “smart gates”  have been trialed in the APM line. You can use WeChat pay or Alipay to buy metro tickets by two ways as the following shows:

1. Follow the official Wechat account of Guangzhou Metro (search “广州地铁微服务”). Buy the metro ticket through the “buying ticket (购票)” function and finish the payment by WeChat Pay. The system will generate a QR-code. The “smart gates” will scan this QR-code and let you in.

2. Log on Guangzhou Metro official APP. Click “buying ticket (购票)” when entering the main interface. After you completethe registration process, you can buy metro tickets by Alipay follow the instruction. And then the system will generate a QR-code which can make you pass the “smart gates”.
