No matter you go to China on business, play, go to school, or visit your family, there is no way to bypass it You need to sign a visa on your passport to leave China’s airport, railway station, or cruise port.
Who needs a Visa To China?
Most people need visas, but there are a few exceptions. You may not need a visa if:
You will travel through China on your way to your final destination and stay in China for no more than 24 hours. In this case, you must stay in your transit areas, such as an airport, railway station, or port. You can’t leave to visit the city.
You are from Brunei, Singapore, or Japan and plan to do business, visit your family or take a holiday within 15 days. There are rules here. Please check with the consulate.
You will travel to Hainan with an organized team of 5 or more people and plan to stay for no more than 15 days. In this case, technically, the visa will be the responsibility of the travel agency.
Maybe you’ve heard about China’s visa-free transit policy. I will elaborate below, but I am not included in the above list as you will still receive a visa in your passport. The only difference between this visa and a traditional visa is that you can apply for it on arrival.
Where can I get a Visa To China?
Where and how you apply for a Chinese visa depends on where you live. In countries such as Denmark, Canada, and the UK, people can apply for visas through the China Visa Application Service Center (cvasc). If you live in the United States, you need to apply to the Chinese consulate. The location of the consulate depends on the country you live in.
No matter where you apply, the mail application is no longer accepted
The application should be submitted directly to the Chinese consulate or consulate. If you can’t submit your application in person, you can find someone to submit it for you, such as a close friend or family member, or even a good Chinese visa service.
In addition, it should be noted that visa applications in China require both invitations from commercial / agency agencies and proof of flights and hotels. This is a problem for many people (i.e. those who go in and out by train or bus), but there are some creative ways to solve the problem of Chinese visa flights/hotels.

In many cases, in order to apply for a Chinese visa, you need to have already purchased a ticket (although there are ways). Usually this means applying between one and three months before your scheduled departure.
