Residence certificate (SF and DC embassies only)

Applicants living in Alaska, Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. jurisdictions (see map) must provide a copy of their driver’s license or state-issued identity card. Minor applicants who do not have a driver’s license can submit their parents’ driver’s license and a copy of their birth certificate. Images of the front and back of the ID must be provided.

Foreigner work permit notice

The Chinese work permit for your Chinese Z visa issued by the Ministry of labor or Foreign Experts Bureau shall be obtained by your Chinese employer for you.

Supporting documents for L visa application

You must provide a travel visa for one of the following documents to visit China.

A copy of the round trip booking (full name must be shown at the time of booking) and the hotel booking; or

A travel group invitation issued by a duly authorized travel department; or

Personal invitation. For personal letters, you need a copy of the Chinese ID card of the inviting person (both sides). For not Chinese invitees, please provide copies of their passports (main information page) and Chinese resident permits.

The invitation sent by Chinese individuals shall include the following:

Personal information of Chinese tourist visa applicants: name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.

Information about the applicant’s visit: the purpose of the visit, the date of arrival and departure, the place of visit, the relationship between the applicant and the invitee, and who will pay for the applicant’s accommodation in China.

Information of the inviting party: name of the unit or individual, telephone number, address, and (if applicable) seal and signature of the legal representative.

Your invitation for China tourist visa can be submitted as a copy. However, the visa officer may request the original invitation and / or personal interview as appropriate.

Important note: the Chinese Embassy and consulate check the authenticity of the invitation letter of the applicant at random by contacting the Chinese inviting party. When this happens, your China travel visa will be delayed, or if the letter is untrue, it will be rejected.
