Photo: Chinaexpress.comOne million notes and 1.32 million coins were seized in a storehouse in the Luohu district of Shenzhen in a raid late last month, the Legal Daily reported.
Border police officials were quoted as saying it was the biggest smuggling case their department had handled since it was set up over 30 years ago. The money was smuggled from across the globe in small amounts and was later sold to currency collectors, it said.

The team launched an investigation in July after receiving a tip. Officers raided the storehouse last month after stopping several suspects walking with prams containing several bags of foreign currencies concealed inside.
The suspects were quoted as saying they hired people to smuggle the cash into China using prams. Police had to ask for help from banks to count the money, which includes some commemorative coins.
The report did not give details of the suspects arrested.
