Recently, visitors to a park in Henan province were surprised after walking into a snake house and finding that the pythons there were being fed live puppies.
Horrified by what they saw, the visitors took video of the python cages and uploaded the footage online for the world to see.
In one clip, a python has completely encircled the body of a tiny white puppy — which is either sleeping or has already had the life squeezed out of it.
In another clip, a brown puppy sits on the floor of the cage near to a python’s tub, mewing sadly and awaiting its fate.
A park employee told reporters that the small zoo in the park was privately-owned and run, and that its operations had nothing to do with the park itself.
However, the worker did add that zoo had stopped its practice of feeding puppies to pythons.
It’s not clear what the pythons are now eating, presumably slow lorises and baby pigs.

Last year, visitors to a zoo in Changsha watched in horror as a live donkey was fed to hungry tigers. The zoo later explained that the donkey had been dumped in the tiger pit as an act of revenge by a disgruntled share holder.
In memory of that unfortunate creature, the zoo then erected a “Monument of the Unknown Donkey” outside of the tiger enclosure.
