Firefighters responding to a call on a school rooftoop to help diffuse attempt of a middle school girl who insisted they back away.

According to Shanghaist, the girl was “severely depressed” as she thwarted the attempts of her friends and family who also tried to convince her not to jump.

Thankfully, the school’s principal seized the perfect opportunity to save the suicidal school girl by courageously using his quick reflexes to grab hold of the girl’s uniform before it was too late. The heroic man then managed to lift the girl and pull her back to safety.

A similar incident occurred in Taiwan earlier this past September, but ended in tragedy as the schoolgirl jumped to her death long before the police managed to save her.

One of the main reasons suicide attempts among students are becoming more prominent in China is due to the overwhelming academic pressure they go through.

A number of concerned parents in Hong Kong are suggesting schools limit the amount of time students to their studies in order to relieve their load of academic pressure.

Majority of survey respondents also preferred the standard time for studying to be at a maximum of seven hours or less per day. The civil alliance for Student Suicide Prevention spokesman, Lai Pak-yin, mentioned that some students study so much that they don’t have time to talk to their parents anymore.
