A man in China has demonstrated the pitfalls of technology, driving into a river after being misled by his GPS.

The man was driving through the eastern Chinese province of Anhui on April 1, when he suddenly realised the dirt road he was travelling along was leading to a body of water.

The man attempted to cross the river, but rising waters left his car trapped

It took emergency services more than half a day to remove the car from the river.

Police had to call in a bulldozer to dig the car out of its muddy mess.

The driver told police he was not familiar with the area and he had been relying on his car’s navigation system when it led him down the ill-fated road.
