The much-anticipated handset, priced from £999 in the UK and £1,119 in China, only went on sale today worldwide.
iPhone X uses the same glass material as iPhone 8, which is said to be hardest and most durable ever for a smartphone, but a popular tech reviewer pointed out after a drop test that ‘glass is glass and it’s gonna break if it’s dropped’.

According to Chinese technology information site IT 168, the iPhone X was dropped last night, just hours before the phone was to go on sale officially.
The clip was believed to have been filmed at a retail shop in China where workers were preparing for the launch.
It remains unclear how the brand new phone had got smashed, but it’s been claimed that the phone’s other functions worked properly.

According to Apple Store’s official price list for repairing service, it costs £286.44 to repair an iPhone X’s OLED screen and £556.44 for ‘other damage’.
The combine cost to fix the cracked body of an iPhone X would cost £842.88, which is almost the price of a brand new iPhone X.

The glass material used on an iPhone X is the same as that of an iPhone 8. It has been described as ‘super strong’ by Philip W. Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing of Apple.
Mr Schiller also said during the phone’s presentation in September: ‘This glass is the most durable ever seen in a smartphone.’

However after a drop test, gadget reviewer and popular YouTube blogger JerryRigEverything said: ‘I think it’s pretty safe to say that whatever Apple says about their most durable glass ever, glass is glass and it’s gonna break if it’s dropped.’
