China tourist visa (Chinese L Visa) is issued to foreigners who are invited to visit China for tourism, sightseeing, family visit, or other private purposes.

The following documents are required to apply for a Chinese L Visa:

Passport: your valid passport must be valid for at least six (6) months and at least one blank visa page.

Chinese tourist visa application form: a completed and signed Chinese tourist visa application form.

Passport photo: paste or pin a passport photo (2 x 2 square inches, black and white, or color) on the Chinese tourist visa application form.

Chinese L Visa

Original Chinese applicant: the first Chinese tourist visa applicant with Chinese nationality shall fill in the Chinese name on the Chinese tourist visa application form and submit the original Chinese passport or a copy of the passport information page. If there is a Chinese visa in the old U.S. passport, the applicant who is originally Chinese and has obtained a new U.S. passport shall submit a copy of the old U.S. passport or the previous Chinese visa.

U.S. citizens can apply for a single-entry Chinese tourist visa (valid for 3-6 months), double-entry Chinese tourist visa (valid for 6 months), or multiple-entry Chinese tourist visa (valid for 6 months or 12 months) “L” visa as required.

Temporary foreign tourists with a valid U.S. visa or foreign residents with legal status in the United States can apply for a Chinese tourist visa. The visa officer may require the applicant to provide the original and copies of his / her U.S. green card, work permit, form I-20, valid U.S. visa or other additional documents for the purpose of deciding whether to issue a visa. Chinese tourist visas are issued on a case by case basis.

Visa validity and stay time

Generally speaking, the “L” China tourist visa for one or two entries is valid for 90 or 180 days from the date of issuance. This means that the visa holder should enter China within 90 or 180 days from the date of issuance, otherwise the visa will expire.

Generally, the stay time of Chinese tourist visa “L” is 30 days, which means that the visa holder can stay in China for 30 days from the date of entry.
